Day 1:

  • Meet at airport for DC departure 
  • Arrive at Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Washington, DC
  • Take the Metro (subway) to our hotel, Residence Inn by Marriott,
    Old Town Alexandria, VA

  • Ride the Metro/Subway into the heart of DC to experience the National Mall at night (All of the monuments & memorials are lit up at night – truly beautiful!)

Day 2:

  • US Holocaust Memorial Museum: Tour the Permanent Exhibition, Remember the Children: Daniel’s Story, From Memory to Action (contemporary genocide), the Hall of Remembrance & then have lunch at the Museum Café
  • Afternoon (1-hour) paddleboating on the Potomac River Tidal Basin
  • Arlington National Cemetery:  View JFK’s Gravesite, the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, tour General Lee’s house, & hike to the Iwo Jima Memorial
  • 7:00 PM – Dinner at Bertucci’s, Old Town Alexandria, VA & Pop’s Ice-Cream for dessert! Here, we’ll enjoy the quaint riverfront area of Old Town with its unique shops, marina, & street performers/artisans before heading back to the hotel for the night.

Day 3:

We’ll be visiting the following sites today:

  • White House (Hopefully a tour!)
  • Lincoln Memorial
  • Washington Monument – tickets for observation deck viewing!  (If open – has been closed due to structural damage from an earthquake in 2012; they’re working on repairs.)
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • Vietnam Memorial
  • WWII Memorial
  • Korean Conflict Memorial
  • FDR Memorial
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial (NEWEST Memorial on the Mall!  Opened Oct., 2011!)
  • Smithsonian Museums (Grp may divide to go to diff museums)
  • Ford’s Theater/Museum/Petersen House – Tours & Park Ranger talk
  • Lunch: Union Station Food Court or Air & Space Museum (Group vote)
  • Dinner: 8PM, Old Ebbitt’s Grill (semi-formal/farewell dinner) Save room for dessert!

  • Mount Vernon: George Washington’s Estate:  Tour of home, grounds & tombs
  • National Treasure II:Book of Secrets Tour
